A Slice of Serenity: Our Stay at Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection

12/08/2024 by Kristin Addis Leave a Comment

If there’s a place that makes you wonder if paradise might be overrated—because clearly, you’ve found something better—it’s Chileno Bay Resort & Residences.

This is where luxury meets laid-back Baja vibes, and every corner feels like a snapshot from a glossy travel magazine. From its tranquil location on a swimmable bay (a rarity in Cabo!) to its jaw-dropping pools and thoughtful design, Chileno Bay effortlessly delivers the kind of getaway that makes you wish time would slow down.

We stayed for two nights in November 2024 (as paying customers) and this review is an honest reflection of that experience. Note that any booking you make through us supports us at no extra cost to you:

Pools that Redefine Perfection

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences review

Let’s talk about the pools first, because wow. The three-tiered infinity pools here are the stuff of dreams. They cascade down toward the ocean, creating a visual symphony of turquoise and blue that’s practically hypnotic. And here’s the kicker: there’s not a bad pool or spot in the place.

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences review

Every area feels like a front-row seat to the show, whether you’re lounging on a daybed or paddling in the water with a view that stretches forever. It’s impossible not to feel at ease here, with soft breezes and a layout that invites you to relax, recharge, and forget what day it is.

With so much space nothing felt crowded, and the pools are well separated so that you don’t have to worry about big kids ruining it for little kids since there are separate pools for adults, families, and toddlers. The toddler pool had so much shallow water, it made it way easier for us parents to sit in the shade while he played in the water right in front of us.

Our Private Garden Hideaway

We stayed in a Garden Room with its own private plunge pool, except this wasn’t just a plunge pool; it was our own little oasis.

Heated on demand, it doubled as a hot tub when the evening chill rolled in. The privacy was incredible—perfect for sipping coffee in the morning or unwinding after dinner while our son slept in his crib inside with the stars overhead.

The Kids’ Club: A Paradise for the Little Ones

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences review

If your child is between the ages of 4 and 12, prepare to hear “Can we go back to the kids’ club?” more times than you can count. This was no afterthought—it was a full-fledged haven with activities, games, and attentive staff who made every kid feel like the MVP.

For those with younger kids, the club is still accessible as long as they’re supervised by an adult, which makes it great for families traveling with toddlers and older siblings. The joy on our little one’s face was worth every penny.

Food: Solid, if Not Spectacular

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences review

The dining at Chileno Bay is an elevated take on local flavors, and we enjoyed our meals, particularly the fresh seafood. While I wouldn’t say the food was the highlight of our stay (I’ve yet to find a luxury resort in Mexico that wows me in this department, including the Waldorf Astoria Pedregal), it was still very good.

The lomo saltado? A must-try. The overall vibe? Exactly what you want on a laid-back luxury escape.

The Bay: Tranquil but Not Quite Toddler-Approved

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences review

Chileno Bay sits on one of Cabo’s rare swimmable bays, which is a major selling point. The water is generally calm enough for most kids and adults to enjoy, and it’s a stunning spot for paddleboarding or snorkeling. That said, the waves felt just a little too feisty for our toddler. For older kids and grown-ups, though? Perfection.

The Chileno Bay Difference

What truly sets Chileno Bay apart is its atmosphere. It’s luxurious without being stuffy, polished without feeling pretentious, and designed to make you feel completely at ease. Here’s what else makes it special:

  • Family-Focused Amenities: From the extensive kids’ club to family-friendly pool areas, the resort strikes a perfect balance between catering to adults and kids.
  • Baja Chic Design: Every corner of the property, from the rooms to the public spaces, feels fresh, modern, and effortlessly cool.
  • A Swimmable Bay: A rarity in Cabo, this is a huge plus for beach lovers.
  • Thoughtful Touches: From the warm welcome to the attentive service, every detail feels considered.

Each room has access to 24/7 concierge Whatsapp service as well to ensure that nothing is ever more than a quick text away.

We also visited 5 of the top cabo resorts on this trip, which I reviewed here.

Would I Return? Absolutely.

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences review

Chileno Bay is the kind of place that spoils you for all future vacations. The pools alone are worth the trip, and when you add in the privacy of the garden rooms, the family-friendly vibe, and the tranquil setting, it’s a recipe for a perfect getaway. Like many resorts in Baja California, it’s a bit isolated which means you’ll either be taking ubers, renting a car, or staying put, but the service is so good that you can just stay and relax if that’s what you want to do!

As a travel advisor, I can help you get the following perks at no extra cost to you when you book through us.

  • Complimentary room upgrade, if available (at check-in).

If you’re dreaming of a luxury escape where everyone—toddlers, kids, and adults—feels catered to, put Chileno Bay at the top of your list. And don’t forget to pack your sunglasses; paradise looks even better with the right accessory.
