Why The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Is the Perfect Base for Exploring Singapore with Kids

08/06/2025 by Ashley Yap Leave a Comment

I used to live in Singapore before I became a parent. Back then, I thought I understood the city—its rhythms, its food, its luxury. But then I went back with a toddler, and suddenly, Singapore opened itself to me like a hidden pop-up book of wonder and convenience and very clean public transport.

Let me tell you about the time I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore with my daughter and considered moving back. Not just because the staff remembered her name (although yes, that happened and I sobbed a little), but because this hotel understands families in the most magical, quietly luxurious way. Also, there was a safari tent. Inside our room.

Why Singapore Is Always Worth a Stop

People think of Singapore as a layover city. And to be fair, it is a good one. But it’s so much more than that. I’ve been back twice with my daughter, and I’ll say this confidently: there are few places as easy, safe, and delightful to travel with young children.

✨ It’s sparkling clean and modern
✨ The MRT is stroller-friendly (and air-conditioned like a meat locker)
✨ It’s walkable, with affordable cabs when legs get tired
✨ There’s plenty of free children parks, exhibitions, events, museums and more
✨ And you’ll find play areas tucked into malls, museums, and even airports

🗓 Insider tip: Visit mid to late July. You’ll catch the lead-up to National Day, which means massive fireworks and fighter jet shows every weekend—without the crowds of actual National Day.

Why The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Is It

This hotel is iconic. Swanky without being snobby. Think: museum-level art in the lobby, but also a front desk team that will high-five your toddler.

Location: It’s nestled right in Marina Bay, walking distance to the ArtScience Museum, Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands, and a short Grab ride to Gardens by the Bay. You can even see the skyline from your bathtub. (I did. While eating room service.)

What really got me though? How welcoming it is for families. No side-eye when your kid does a victory shriek in the hallway. Just smiles, name greetings, and maybe a cookie.

Where We Slept (and Played and Hid from the Heat)

We booked the Club Premier Suite, and let me tell you, it was a dream. The sleeping area has doors, which meant I could put my daughter down for a nap and still sip coffee in the lounge like a person who reads the news and wears matching socks.

The bathroom? Huge. Window-facing tub. Singapore Flyer view. Spa-like vibes.

Baby gear? Oh, they thought of everything:

  • High chair
  • Baby cot
  • Stroller
  • Bottle sterilizer
  • Bath tub
  • Milk warmer

And then there was the tent. A full-on safari-themed tent with a mattress, tiny lanterns, stuffed campfire, child-size robe and slippers, and a cookie decorating kit. My daughter thought she’d died and gone to Glamping Heaven. This was all part of Ritz Carlton’s Ritz Kids program featuring the new mascot, ‘Leo the Lion’. For The Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore, The “Ritz Kids Night Safari Adventures” room package is available for overnight stays in an Elevated Kallang room, Deluxe Marina room, Premier Suite, Club Premier Suite or One Bedroom Millenia Suite.

This wasn’t just a hotel stay. It was a production, and I didn’t have to direct any of it.

Why Club Privileges Are Worth It

It’s really worth the extra dollars to book a Club Room or Suite, because it comes with a host of valuable perks. You’ll have access to the exclusive Ritz Carlton Club Lounge, which offers five daily food and beverage presentations, including breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. There’s also a dedicated check-in counter, a separate club concierge, and complimentary daily laundry service (up to 2 clothing items per day) and limousine service within the vicinity, which made our city explorations effortless. It’s a level of service that makes a big difference, especially when traveling with children.

What We Did

There’s a large pool—no designated kiddie area, but floats are available and the vibe is chill. The gym is beautiful and well-equipped (not that I used it, but good to know if you’re that person). The spa? As luxurious as you’d expect. The kids club is small but thoughtfully done, and honestly, we didn’t use it much because the real win here is the location.

One morning, we visited Gardens by the Bay, and thanks to the club’s limousine service, we didn’t have to book a cab—we were dropped off right at the entrance with zero fuss. We also walked over to Marina Bay Sands from the hotel and visited the Balloon Museum one morning, then strolled back to the hotel for a nap before heading to Suntec City for dinner.

While the hotel itself doesn’t offer a huge list of kid-centric activities, its prime location makes exploring the city incredibly easy and convenient.

What We Ate

There’s a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant on-site (you fancy), and the club lounge access was worth every extra dollar. Five food presentations daily, cocktails, and a dessert spread that had me considering elastic-waist pants.

Breakfast at Colony was solid. Not groundbreaking, but full of dependable hits (yes to dim sum and hash browns). And for anything else, you’re a stone’s throw from Suntec City, a mega-mall with hundreds of food options.

What It Costs

$460 USD/night in low season (April–June) and can go up to $1160+ USD/night in high season (December, Chinese New Year, and July/August).

Contact us to book your stay. And please—take the tent. Take the cookies. Take the bubble bath with the skyline view. You deserve it.
